What We Use

Safe & Environmentally Friendly Cleaning
Like in any industry there are a wealth of different carpet cleaning products on the market today and keeping up with the latest technology is always at the forefront of what we do. Even now I still attend a couple of cleaning courses per year just to make sure that the products we use are the safest and best available. We mainly use Microsplitting or Colloidal cleaning solutions, these are derived from plant and food grade sources and are totally child and pet friendly. Below is a description of how these products clean efficiently whilst also being some of the most modern and safest cleaning solutions on the market today.
How Do They Clean?
Microsplitter Cleaning

Microsplitting Detergent free cleaning chemistry is totally free from any added synthetic surfactants, and is primarily manufactured from processed and refined food grade Sodium Salts, either Sodium Phosphate or Sodium Citrate. The pH of the cleaning solution is adjusted with acids or alkalis compatible with phosphates or citrates. These are blended and adjusted to produce detergent free cleaning solutions specific to a certain surface, or to impact on problematic soiling. In addition they are also free of oxidizers, reducing agents, bacteria, enzymes and hazardous solvents. Unlike detergents, which emulsify and suspend soil in solution, Microsplitting chemistry is 100% active and works on contact at a nano-particulate level splitting the bond that holds soil together, in place on textiles and fibres. This bond consists of many connected and differently charged molecular chains, which are broken down and spilt into colloidal particles. Once this bond is broken, soils dissolve hygroscopic-ally and cannot reconstitute, so that it can then be removed easily using just a fresh water rinse in conjunction with virtually any industry recognised extraction medium. They do not impact detrimentally on factory applied protective finishes such as anti-static, soil and stain resistant treatments or antimicrobial treatments.

They leave no soil attracting or measurable residues that could be considered detrimental to the item that has been cleaned. Soil removal is complete, and far more thorough than current detergent based cleaning chemistry. In fact Microsplitting chemistry will also assist in the removal of the inevitable residues left behind by these cleaners.

Colloidal Cleaning

In very simple terms, it is an advanced, plant-derived, detergent and enzyme-free cleaning agent that breaks down soils and micro-organisms at a sub-molecular level. It is eco-friendly in production, transportation, use and disposal. All this yet out-performs most conventional cleaning products.

And cleans without “harsh chemical intrusion”

In 1827, Robert Brown first observed the irregular motion of small particles suspended in a liquid or gas. This irregular motion was caused by the bombardment of the suspended particles by molecules of the liquid or gas, they were suspended in a uniform medium. The motion of the molecules gave rise to a powerful cleaning technology, known as "colloids". Quite simply, colloid solutions have been described as millions of tiny "jackhammers" in constant motion.

These molecules move in a "zig-zag" pattern after being charged and ionized to repel each other. Temperature affects the amounts of movement, as with most cleaning agents. These molecules move with a velocity proportional to the square root of temperature. These "charged" colloid-sized particles of silt and clay pick up dirt or pollutants such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, pesticides, etc., and because the particles are "like" charged, they remain in suspension. This suspension is one of the basic steps in soil removal. Dirt or oil particles bond together, as well as to surfaces. The colloids “grab” soil particles, breaking it down then they keep the particles from re-bonding or re-depositing on the surface, due to like charges that constantly repel.

How does it work?

Using particles with a size of around 1/10 millionth of a meter which are constantly repelling each other we have effectively created a solution that chips away at soil particles without any chemical intrusion to the surface you are cleaning.

Working by using continuous fragmentation or a form of dispersion if you like, soil matter is reduced to a level rarely experienced using conventional cleaning agents.

This means the normally inert solution is actually moving and working like a series of miniature air hammers literally shocking the soil away from the surface being cleaned.
How Safe Are They?
Microsplitting cleaning solutions are free of potentially hazardous volatile organic compounds and manu-factured from food grade compounds or food grade preservatives. They are environmentally aware and are non-hazardous to humans, animals and the environment! They do not bio-accumulate in humans or the environment, and neither do they impact on the necessary and beneficial flora and fauna present in wastewater treatment facilities.
